An Update....

A while back I told you about the
Harrower family who suffered a tragic
house fire.  Mr. Harrower lost his life
after making sure that his family was
safely out....

Linda is now out of the hospital.
She is recovering at home.  I have
not seen anything of her on the news yet,
but there are several fundraisers in process
for the family.  I am thrilled that the company
that my husband works for,
Sight and Sound Theater,
is holding a large fundraiser for them today.
They sold tickets to today's two showtimes
of Joseph for a discounted price of $15.
Each and every penny goes to the Harrower
Family.  We were thrilled to see that more than
$38,300 was raised.
This will help the family
so much!!

The tourism industry has really stepped up
on this one as Mr. Harrower worked for
The Dutch Apple Dinner Theater and was
well known and liked
throughout Lancaster County.

While stories like these are uplifting and will
surely be a blessing to the family, the fact remains
that a husband and father is gone from this world.
His children and wife are at a very sad place right
now....so continued prayers would be awesome!!!

A Favorite Cafe

I've probably mentioned
that Chelsea would like to
own her own Cafe one day....

So, as part of her curriculum this
year we are putting ourselves through
the torture of visiting a new
cafe each week.

Pain and agony,
I tell you!
lol

If possible Chelsea talks to the
owner or employees,
but mostly she just observes,
judges the surroundings, food and
coffee for various things.
She then comes home and
writes a report.

We have been to some pretty nice places.
However, on Monday we found
the best yet!!!!

It is one that has had us randomly
mentioning it ever since.
The Coffee Co. is found in a
shopping center between
Lititz Pike and Fruitville Pike.
(Beside Michael's which is
all the better!)
We had
to wait to be seated....
but it was worth the wait.

Chelsea got a latte that came
with a gorgeous design in the foam.
We both nearly cried that we didn't
have the camera with us...
until it occurred to us that we would
just have to come back!

I got a bowl of chili that was amazing!
Just the right level of "hotness".
Chelsea got a Caesar Salad
that she proclaimed perfection.
And that is saying something.
She has eaten many, many
Caesar Salads!

So...
If you find yourself in Lancaster County
and you are looking for a great cup of coffee
at a cafe with excellent service....
check out The Coffee Co.
Chelsea and I
just might be there!

The link on the name takes you
to their web site where you can
see what Chelsea's Latte looked
like....so cute!!!

Baby Fix

Source:  Microsoft Clip Art

This morning Chelsea and I will help with child care
at Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS).

I get to snuggle the babies.
This is such a treat!

I'm practicing.
To be a Grandma.
One day....
One far away day!

A New Week

We begin this Monday with more rain.
It is not necessarily a bad thing
since our Summer was
unusually dry.

There are
many things on our
agenda this week.
Chelsea and I are going to
be very busy with
school, child care, appointments,
baking and candle making.

Mikey will turn eighteen this week
so we will have a proper celebration
for him at some point.

A younger version....

At work this Summer...

I know his celebration won't be on his actual
birthday since Warren is scheduled
to work late on that day.
But it will be sweet
when it happens.

The wedding candles
are due on Sunday.
I have to finish that order.
We went to Costco for boxes.
Transporting 150 punch cups
and keeping them flat is a
bit of a challenge.
I am so excited for this wedding!
The couple is fun.
I have enjoyed working with them.

Well, I'd better get to it.
Much to do.
Thanks for stopping in.

Choose You this Day....

...Whom You Will Serve.
Oh dear.
This is an instruction that comes
calling to us each and every day.
Joshua was challenging those in his
charge to step up and decide
how they were going to
live.
But Joshua made it clear that He,
and His, were going to
serve the Lord God Almighty.

Even as Believer's we remain at
risk of making wrong choices.
Choices that harm us....
and hurt Him.

I pray that my choices
This Day
Serve, Please and
Glorify Him.

Hope!

When you are up against an illness such
as Anorexia it is very pervasive.  Creeping
into every aspect of your family life.

When can we eat?
Who has to be there?
What do we eat?
Did you get your lipids?

Crazy!

But, sometimes this brings opportunities
for unexpected joy.

Yesterday was one such day.
Chelsea and I were at lunch.
We went to a favorite restaurant
for their chicken corn soup....
the best ever, I swear!

Anyway....we were sitting there
and out of the blue
Chelsea said that she
is feeling happy for the
first time in a long time.

She can feel the difference that
nutrition and fluids are
making in her body.

Up until now food has only
brought her pain and anxiety.
But now there is HOPE!

Please keep up your prayers
for us in this struggle.
It is not an easy road to
walk,
but we are not walking alone.

I write these things that are intensely
personal in the hope that someone
else on a similar journey will find
support and a HOPE of their own.
This post is Chelsea approved....
I would not do this without her blessing.
Thanks to Emma Rabe for taking
fun photos on Sunday.

Psalm 33:20
We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.

Psalm 52:9
I will praise you forever
for what you have done;
in your name I will hope
for your name is good.
I will praise you in the
presence of your saints.

Chivalry is not Dead!

As I posted yesterday we got rain!
Tropical Storm Nicole dumped on us...
big time.  Our area received about seven
inches.  The storms just kept training up
across central Lancaster County.

This was the second time this week that
something that may have seemed an
inconvenience was actually very helpful
to me.  The first being the cold.  It
guaranteed that I did not feel up to
going anywhere or doing anything so
it made it easier to buckle down and
finish my continuing ed on the computer.
My neighbor, Ellen, was just getting over
a cold as well so she didn't mind coming
to proctor my exams.

By Wednesday evening I
was an emotional puddle.
Overwhelmed at all that needs to be done
around here and emotionally played out
after our afternoon in Hershey.  That was
our first visit with a Nutritionist for Chelsea.
We like her, a lot....but, oh, the work ahead
of us.  We have gotten very lazy about planning
ahead when it comes to meals
and eating together during the day.
That has to change....so on Wednesday evening
it all came crashing in.  I knew that I have many
candle orders to prep for, a house to prepare
for Bible Study tonight, and at that point a class
to prepare for our Homeschool co-op.  It was
more than I felt capable of completing.

Well, along came the rain.
It came in huge buckets.
It flooded our streets and many basements.
I am sorry for those families.
Truly.
But....God provided a respite for me
in that storm.  You see, in the early
morning yesterday Mom had called
and offered me her car for co-op so
that Warren could drive the van rather
than his small Miata.  Good thing....he
would have gotten stuck or not been able
to get there in the little car.  Our co-op
ended up canceling and I never got Mom's
car.  Leaving me....
HOME!

The kids wanted to go here and there.
No car!
It was a blessing!

Finally, last evening we walked to Mom's
for our family dinner.  Meatloaf, mashed
potatoes, creamed corn....
a true comfort meal.
We enjoyed it so much.

We finished eating and the kiddos headed
home in a break in the storm.  Warren and
I stayed to chat.  Then the rain came again.
In a big way.  Warren was so very, very
sweet.  When we saw that it was not going
to stop anytime soon he walked back to our
house, got the car and came for me.
Not only that, he backed the car into the driveway
to position the passenger door exactly at the bottom
of the porch steps.
Isn't that chivalrous?
It really is not that far between our
houses....but Warren insisted and
left to get the car as Mom and I finished chatting.

It is in their caring for us so sweetly that our love grows
and grows for our husbands, right ladies?

If Warren ever brings me flowers I will get
but he shows me every day, in so many ways
that I am loved.  He takes wonderful care of
our entire family.

Thanks Honey!
You have proved, once again,
that Chivalry is not dead!
