This slowing down goal is working.
Last evening the boys had a friend
here and Chelsea was off with two friends
at another home.
I made a new dinner of breaded boneless
chicken breast in enchilada sauce topped
with Swiss Cheese. Just experimenting!
I served it over noodles...however, I would
have preferred rice...because I love rice.
The family prefers noodles. Anyway...it
wasn't too big of a hit with the teen boys.
Jonathan ate it up...but the other two sampled
it and then moved on to the ham and cheese
sandwiches I had offered as a default option.
Anyway, after dinner Warren helped me clean up
the kitchen and we had no place to go.
We weren't needed anywhere! The other
parents had arranged to meet at our house for
the kid exchange. Often we will meet at a local
shopping center...and often it will be a three car
deal with kids trading car seats like crazy!
So, it was awesome to have time to putter around
the kitchen with my favorite guy. But it didn't
stop there. We sat down in the living room.
Together!
I know, I am shocked too.
Loving this slowing down thing!
Before we knew it parents had shown up with,
or to pick up, kids.
They joined us in the living room.
We had a lovely conversation about life
and politics. You know I loved that!
After they left, Warren looked at me
and said, "That was fun!"
I heartily agreed.
Maybe you can teach an old dog new
tricks. I am going to continue to
work on slowing down. Enjoying the
kitchen, and cleaning the dust from
my hanging light in the dining room...
Did that while we were clearing the
table and chatting.
Now, if I could just get to those
nasty cobwebs in the corner....
Sl...ow...ing...do...wn....
How about you?

Enjoying my Houseguest
I will be back later to post pictures
from my delightful
adventures with my houseguest, Shelley.
By the end of this weekend we will surely be
happily exhaused from all of the chatting
and sight seeing...maybe a "wee bit" of shopping.
This is the friend who's leg went through my
ceiling as she was helping me look for my son's
birth cerificate many years ago.
The one who kept my boys daily, just because,
when I was on bedrest with Chelsea and
could not care for them.
She is the friend who still stayed a friend
after we left the church we had both attended
for a long time.
Last evening we were up late sitting up with
the kids around the table and just enjoying
the conversation and silliness of teenagers.
ALL kids LOVE Miss Shelley!!!
She LOVES them too!
So, I'll be back...
Have a great day!

Encouraging....
While my pain is getting worse
I am very encouraged that we are on a right
course for getting it resolved.
Yesterday, I had a 35 minute drive to a
specialist's office. I was so close to
tears as I prayed that I would be allowed
to speak to someone who would be willing
to spend more than five minutes with me.
The Physician's Assistant must have been
directly working with my case for more than
an hour. She listened, she documented, she reviewed
notes from a couple of years ago. Then she went and
consulted with the doctor because she said I am becoming
"complex". (She's not the first to think that! - lol)
She confirmed that my plan for a
second opinion is a good one. I needed to hear that!
I don't know the last time a doctor's office
made me feel that time wasn't ticking!
Answered prayer!
I went to my second appointment and that doctor
is my regular family physician.
He came into the room and immediately cracked
a joke. It just set the tone for an easier time
of talking about these things that are just so hard.
This doctor had only good things to say about the
doctor I will see for the second opinion. Isn't that
great?!?
I was so thankful for both of these appointments.
Someone was praying....THANK YOU!
About the book giveaway...either no one really
wants the book or they just didn't follow the
directions to say to enter them, however, based
on what I know about the three who commented on
yesterday's post I want to send the book to
Miss Paula. I think she would enjoy it the most.
So, Miss Paula, I need you to email me
with your address so I can work on another weakness...
getting things to the post office!
Surprise Visitors...Mrs. Rabe and her
nearly grown daughter, Lindsay, stopped by
yesterday to retrieve something.
I begged them to come in and
chat for a few minutes.
They did!!!!
Made my day!
Their timing was great too.
I was just about to fill the dishwasher
so I got to delay that chore by about
a half an hour...not to mention that
had they come much earlier they would not
have found me home.
I am so glad they came by!
I know I say it all of the time...
but I love my friends!
