It's been a long time in coming.
Candle making classes at a Lancaster middle school.
All of the paperwork and background checks were nearly
enough to make me say just to forget it.
It seemed that the list just kept getting longer and longer
in a time of my life and business that I was swamped
and really didn't have the time to give.
But, the desire to get in front of students again kept
me going forward.
I just LOVE those eyes looking curiously.
It is such a rush to have them hanging on your words
for the next bit of new information
(or crazy thing that you might do).
It is definitely in my favor that I am not teaching
a math class.
Mostly because I'm horrible at math so I wouldn't
be excited to teach that subject.....
but also because everyone knows that candle
making has to be more interesting and I have a better
chance of keeping the attention of students who have
just set through an entire day of school.
This is an after school program run by one of
my fundraiser coordinators.
Today's preps will involve packing up my marshmallow
making mold. They are going to make marshmallows.
I figure I hate to pop those little shaped pieces of wax out
of the hard rubber mold but it will be all new and different
for them......
so each class will make a mold full of marshmallows.
Yee-haw....that's a lot of marshmallows that I don't have to make.
Tee-hee.
We will talk about candle basics and play around with
the equipment, talk about safety and get a list of
ingredients made for our next class ...
in about a month.... when they will actually make
a candle to take home.
Oh Yeah!
The adrenaline is running.
Look out Middle Schoolers.....
The Candle Lady
is
coming!
