Hydrangea Days

Sweet pink hydrangeas.

Given to Warren by his employers after his father died.
Michael's blue hydrangea.  When I saw the bush so full that blooms were laying on the ground I knew I had to bring some into the house!

Michael made these blue...that was not their initial color.  It was one of his horticulture projects.  Turned out very well, if you ask me.

I love the various shades on this plant.

It makes me smile to look over and see the
happy color combination.

Hydrangeas...
We plan to add more hydrangea bushes
to our landscape.
I know just where they will go.
Oh the vases I will be able to fill.....
Joy!

I Had To Do It!

All of last week I missed the creativity of making candles....
so today while filling another order I made a couple of
fun ones too.

This summery mosaic with french vanilla soy.

And a lightly pineapple fragranced one...
conveniently in a pineapple!

Oh, I do love it!

Ahhhh...that feels so good.
Two new additions to the Etsy shop.

Is It Trevor or Michael?

On Thursday Chelsea and Michael were
very amused when we picked them up
from the Festival.
Understand that it was 11:45pm when
we met at the Festival Site so they might
have been easily amused as tired as they were
but we thought this story was cute too.

Michael has his hair bleached and
for fun likes to put it up in a mini mohawk.
It is cute enough.
I don't get excited about our kid's hairstyles
or hair color.
Life is too short and other things are way
more important.

So, anyway, Thursday as he and Chelsea were
at the Festival he received several inquiries as to
whether he was the Thousand Foot Crutch lead
singer.  People wanted his autograph.
One guy wouldn't believe him when he denied it.
He thought he was just trying to be incognito.
So funny.

So ...you be the judge.

Understand that Trevor used to have his
hair bleached too.
It is that way on at least one album cover.

This is Trevor!

So is This!

Trevor?  Michael?  What are you doing at Olive Garden????
This is Michael.

I hope there wasn't a problem with that Java Chip.....what a clown.
O.k. so I guess maybe with his hair bleached there could be a
resemblance....but not now.
Definitely not side by side.
However, it made the day even more enjoyable for Michael.
He loved the attention.
For sure.

I know this because I have never forgotten
the night a concert attendee asked me if
I was Debbie Boone.
No, that woman wasn't blind...
it was more than twenty years ago.
I looked quite different then........
and I sang like an angel.
Don't believe me?
You'll just have to find that
most wonderful woman
and ask her...

Have you ever been told you
look like someone who is
famous?

2 Hours....45 Minutes

That is how long we had to entertain ourselves
as an accident on the PA Turnpike was cleaned up.

As we approached the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel
the RED lights were on.
Traffic stopped just before the entrance.
We were at the beginning of a ten mile
parking lot on the PA Turnpike.

So...what is a family to do on a hot
and humid day with nowhere to go
and nothing to do?

Well, you watch people.
You see how they deal with this
unexpected happening.

So many dogs!
Did you know there are dogs
in many cars that pass you on the highways?
I didn't...but they began popping out of cars everywhere.
There is no icebreaker like a dog.
They bring people together!

This scene played out over and over
with different people and different dogs.

Then there were those who had frisbees with
them......they had all the time they wanted to play.

Michael had it all figured out...
He would just flip out!

That was a little more enthusiastic than Chelsea
who just wanted to get home.....

She was extremely unhappy at this turn of events.

But we walked, took photos, I read a book in the
shade of some pine trees...

While we waited the stories flew.
It was a semi  that clipped the far side of the tunnel...
there was a fatality.....
We had additional two to three hours to wait...
this was after the initial two....
the wait was caused by the coroner....

The reality?
About a mile past the tunnel a truck had
lost control....
ripped the side off his trailer....
lost most of his load.
He had minor injuries.

I am thankful that no one lost their life.
We have another memory to add to this
crazy trip.
It was time spent with our sweet
kiddos and while I don't want to do
it again...it could have been worse.

Edited to answer Vee's question......
Facilities?
Remember that I mentioned pine trees?
It was an interesting place to a lot of people.
I was on the public side of the trees as I read.
One man didn't bother to go behind any trees.
Scary!
There were no towns nearby.
It was very remote.

We are very, very happy to be home.
I need to get around and head out to
visit the dentist who pulled my
tooth last week.
This should be interesting.

A Very Full Day Comes to an End

It has been a very long day
made a bit stressful by nasty storms as we
left Lexington, Kentucky this morning.

We drove through rain all of the way
to the northern border of.Kentucky,
near Cincinnati, OH.
We found our way to the Creation Museum.
We then proceeded to enjoy several hours
of enjoyable visual lessons.
This included the Planetarium Show,
Men in White~a media display in a special effects theatre
and a walk through sets of displays.

Not real people....even though they were quite lifelike.

We found the building to be quality
and the displays well thought out and
well executed.

Because of Warren's job in theatre
he took his time and examined things
carefully.  He was pleased with his findings.
If the people who are responsible could
only know what a compliment that is!

The indoor portion of our day ended
with an hour long seminar by Tim Chaffey
titled "Is Genesis Relevant in Today's World?"
It was so very good.
I am heartbroken when I hear Christians attempt
to find a way to blend Evolution and God's Word
about Creation.
It came crystal clear to me when teaching our
children Science in the elementary years that
if I explained that Genesis One really didn't mean
what it said that the whole foundation for them to
believe anything in the Bible was taken away.
I know people...friends....who honestly work to
fit millions or billions of years into the Biblical timeline
but they just don't fit!!

Tim Chaffey did an excellent job of verbalizing
all of the points I have worked through over the years.

We then headed out of doors to explore the gardens.
It was a beautiful walk.
A few photos from this time of exploration.

A very lovely garden, indeed.

We then came to our hotel for the evening.
I wanted to cry with relief when I saw our rooms.
Yes, rooms.
We are in a suite...for less than $100.
What a great find.
God has blessed us and we are so
very grateful.
I just keep walking around looking
and shaking my head at the difference between
what we left this morning and this wonderful,
and very professional, hotel.
If only we had days to spend here.
But, alas, we must head for home first thing
in the morning.
It will take us all day.

Your thoughts and prayers are always
appreciated when we travel.
Poor Warren has to deal with my
second guessing his driving.
He is a great driver.
I should keep my mouth shut...
if only I could!
