As you have read, we were in
need of a new garage door.
Our boys aren't evil.
They are human boys...
who make mistakes!
One day Mikey jumped off his dirtbike
while it was still running and
caught his sleeve on the throttle.
Boom, into the garage door.
Small hole.
Lesson learned...we hope!
A few weeks later Jonathan was
behind the wheel for maybe the
second time and got the brake
and the gas confused...BAM!
He really did a
number on the door.
He hit the same spot Mikey did
but he pushed the whole thing in
and mangled the track.
Some of you think this could never
happen to you....just wait!
This, or something equally as
silly, certainly could happen to
you if you have teens in the house.
They have to learn sometime!
So anyway...we knew this was a project that
couldn't wait very long...
Our cat, Oliver is using the hole as a cat
door. Who knows what he might drag in.
Warren has been getting estimates
which made us shudder.
The boys will certainly be
involved in helping to pay for the
door but they don't have the resources
to replace it on their own.
This brings us to last evening.
We were at a graduation party for
Miss Lindsay Rabe...of Creekside
Cottage. It was so fun. We stayed
until 11:00pm. At this time we forced
ourselves to leave and drove a friend
home. This is important because
it took us home a slightly different way.
After dropping our friend off I let Jonathan
drive us home. He is getting better behind the
wheel, really.
As we approached our home I noticed a hand
painted sign on a nearby corner.
There would be an auction
today offering 100 garage doors.
That's what the sign said.
I have NEVER seen an auction of garage
doors in my life.
So, when I got up this morning I took
Mikey to work and came home that way to
check on the timing and see if there was
any other information on the sign.
Not really, just that they were auctioning
100 doors.
We arrived an hour early to see if this was
worth our time. Sure enough, there were four
or five brand new doors, exactly the right size,
to be auctioned off.
So, we got breakfast and returned for the
start of the bidding.
There were not many people at this auction.
I had not seen anything else about it anywhere.
If we had not taken a different route home
last evening we would never have known
about it...at all!
Amazingly enough, we spent less than half
of what we had been quoted and got a much better
door. The auctioneer and owner of the business
were very helpful in showing
us exactly which items we would need to have
everything necessary to install the door.
Warren and the boys will install it
and get to learn together. The boys will know
that they must be more careful...These things
cost time and money.
But they will also learn that our Loving Heavenly
Father cares about the details in our lives...
Even about Garage Doors!
He does!
You can't make me think otherwise!!!

New Places, New Treasures
Sally, at the Smiling Sally Blog has
made me think this morning. It didn't
seem like a deep post, really. She
featured her beautiful Crepe Myrtles
as a part of Pink Saturday and mentioned
how much she will miss them since she
is about to move.
If you have ever moved you would surely
agree that there is always that something
with which it is hard to part.
We have moved a lot.
I happen to love moving.
Every time there was something that I
knew I would miss. A special plant,
or a nook in the house that was special.
But, soon, in our new place I would discover
something equally as wonderful and special.
Leap with me here.
That got me thinking about our fear of
death. We all have things about this life
that we adore. What we are moving on to
we aren't so sure about. Of course, the
Christian believes that is will be great.
We do, right?
But, there is always that underlying uncertainty
because we have not experienced it.
I was thinking this morning, that particular
move will be the most incredible exchange of
favorites ever!!!
Takes some of the "sting" out of death when
we look at it that way.
I hope Sally's new house has something
she loves just as much as the crepe myrtle.
I am just guessing that it will.
Have a great weekend.
We are off to look at garage doors!
Sigh...

(Too) Close Encounter with the Fox
Warning, this is not your typical
Beautiful Life Post...but it represents
what I love about life. There are many
unexpected moments that totally change
the feel of a day. I love to go with them,
embrace the challenge and get a good
laugh in the process.
Yep, It is a Beautiful Life!

For more ways people are celebrating the
Beauty in their lives head over to visit
Melissa at The Inspired Room. She has a
guest today.
I awoke very quickly this morning when
Warren said the fox was in the hen house.
The hens were panicked and flying back and
forth.
Warren headed out the door and announced that,
in fact, the fox was still on the outside.
I am ashamed to say that at that point I
ran for the camera.
No memory card.
I discovered this after I was already
outside. Warren was yelling and waving
his arms and the fox was obviously quite
impressed because he headed up the hill
for some easier prey.
I looked at my watch and it was 6:00am.
I wondered briefly if I should call my neighbor
Ellen at this hour and warn her.
She has chickens.
I didn't wonder long because her hens and
roosters were soon squawking. I figured she
would be getting awake from all of that noise,
and might as well know right away what the
problem was.
When things got quiet up there again I decided
to stand guard outside our chickens as the
fox would likely come back by to get back to
his home across the street.
Sure enough. He and I were face to face in a
matter of minutes. I yelled at him, and the
wimp turned and went back up the hill. He
stopped, sat, and looked at me.
Truth! I pulled the camera, now with memory
card, and snapped blurry pictures.

The fox and I were not far apart, at this
point but the camera
was set on landscape and he was too close to
zoom on. I didn't realize it was set on this
setting. By the time
I got it figured out he was gone back up the
hill again.
Now, to any neighbors who noticed me running around like
an idiot in my purple flowered matching PJ's, I
sincerely apologize. I must have looked like a
large grape jelly bean. I am now coming to be horrendously
embarrassed. At the time, I was on a mission...
or two.
Save the chickens
and
get a picture.
I am not sure of the order....
lol.
No, obviously it was save the
chickens or you would be seeing
some amazing photography!
Wonder what else is up for
today?
I think Chelsea and
I are going to a Horse Rescue
Fundraiser. Georgia is very
involved with this Rescue and
we are going to visit her there
this afternoon.
Should be interesting.
Have a great day!

He's Got the Life!
Warren was out taking pictures
of the full moon
Saturday evening.
When he came in
these pictures were
on the camera.

This is Oliver.
He is the King of his castle.
Do you see the roof he
is on in the second photo?
That is a dog house
I bought at an
auction two years ago.
No one was bidding on it.
I couldn't pass it up.
Oliver has taken to sleeping
in this dog house day or night.
Although, his normal nighttime
spot is at our feet .
He has made it his own.
What is so characteristic of
Oliver, though, is to assume
that we are here to serve him.

He believes that the most
interesting thing is always
just past that closed door.

If it is raining outside
he is sure that if he comes
back inside
...for just five minutes...
the rain will stop and
all will be sunny in his
playground again.

Oliver can be annoying...
but he is also a very
cuddly and loving kitty.
We are glad to have him
in our lives.

Mini Drive-by
We had to make a quick run to
Groff's Plant Farm yesterday.
Mikey needed to pick up a few
more ferns for one of his jobs.
He drove which left me free to
snap some photos as we went.
This home catches my eye every time
as it sits at a lovely angle on its
large lot and is meticulously maintained.

I think it looks so cozy tucked into
its little nook. If you click on the
photo you will see a matching garage
in the back.
So cute!
Slightly different, but a favorite
thing to see each time we use this
road is right behind these trees...

I have to wonder about the history.
How old is this?
Who lived here at one time?

There are stories all around us.
Seeing places like this make
my curiousity bubble to the
surface. The time involved in
this stonework had to be fairly
significant.
Just a bit of sight-seeing
for all of us today.
Have a lovely Tuesday!

Big Week!
Tropical Trilogy
Dreaming of this....but...
The reality is very different.
A busy week lies ahead.
No sand or sun in our future.
Homeschool Evaluations.
Candle Making.
Landscape Jobs.
A Friend's Graduation.
Chauffer Duties.
All good things.
Just all at the same time.
Wishing you a week
that is calm
and serene.
See you soon.
