New Blogger - Go say Hi!

Hey all,

I would love for you to say a nice "hello"
to my friend Kelly who has just begun to blog.

Kelly is a new friend and I think we are on our way to being
great life-long friends. Our boys absolutely hit it off right away.

Her Blog is called Cozy Comforts.

She mentions me...in a nice way...so I think
you should all go and welcome her to our
happy Blog Family!

Thanks!

Jewels is Back!

Hey friends, for those of you who used to Read Jewels blog...
she is back at it and it is open to the public and as wonderful
as ever.

Head on over and sit a spell.

Eyes of Wonder is the Title of her blog and I think it fits her nicely.

Blessings on your day!

I am going through some rough waters and don't have a lot to say.
Just Pray.
Thanks!

No Photo Card! Plenty of Fun!

O.k. it was like this.

There was a beautiful cardinal just
begging to have his picture taken.
Handsome devil in a pine tree...
so cliche.
But beautiful.
I pulled out the camera...no card.

This is where I sighed a sigh of relief.
I would be enjoying the gardens without
thought of getting just the right photos.

So, I apologize, my freedom may be your loss...
unless Mrs. Rabe, (Creekside Cottage)
or Miss Paula, (Gathering of Friends) happen to post
pics that they took.

It was so much fun to walk through the gardens.
The day was so delightful.
There were about a billion butterflies sipping
nectar from the various sources at their disposal.

The picture above is the one taken at
Mrs. Rabe's home a few weeks ago.
So we really did not have to go to Kennett Square
for Beauty...but it sure was fun.

Longwood is not as colorful, for the most part, at
this time of the year. There was a lot of monochromatic
white and green beds. Very pretty.

One exception to the lack of color came in the huge
outdoor beds next to the concert shell. There were
purples, reds, oranges and yellows. We saw many
varieties that were new to us and uses for some
plants that we had not thought of before. I guess
that is one of the reasons you visit a garden such
as this.

The lily pads and large "platters" are absolutely amazing
right now. We spent a very long time just staring and asking
questions of one of the employees. Wow!!

Miss Paula, Mrs. Rabe and I made time for some heart to hearts
about various things in our lives. It is so very good to
have friends to share our hearts with.
I hope you have someone like that in your life.

Somehow, as you see the things that God has created you just
know that HE is able to provide for our every need. To glimpse
that little piece of HIM. To see HIM as Creator God, artist,
all powerful...amazing!

Please take a break from the busyness of your day today to spend
a bit of time with our Creator God. Wander through a garden or
search out photos of His Creation and look at the creativity and
attention to detail that our Heavenly Father used in speaking His
creation into being.

Blessings on this day!

Sleepwalking Through a Big Garden

This is what Mrs. Rabe, Miss Paula and I
will be doing today. We were together last
evening celebrating a certain 3 year old's
Birthday...Mr. Kyle Rabe did indeed turn
Three! He was sooo cute!

Anyway, It was late when we got to bed and
for Miss Paula who is not used to East Coast
time this will seem very early.
It seems tooo early as I sit here now...
and I am used to it!

It is worth it to get to The Longwood Gardens
before it is too hot to enjoy them.

I'll take the camera and get some pictures of
us in the gardens.

See You Later!

Sigh...

The perfect end to a day...

This evening the sweet husband and I
snuck out to a wonderful restaurant...
just the two of us!!!

Hints:

Salad...to die for...

Bread sticks which soak up salad dressing so nicely at
the end of the eating of the greens.

Chicken Parmesan for me...

Chicken Alfredo for him...

Tirimisu for two...ahhhh...

You have to know it was

Olive Garden!!!

I am a garlic mess but I loved it!

And to spend two focused hours with my
dear husband.
That does not happen nearly often enough.

I can recommend it friends!
Well, you had better go out with your own spouse,
not mine...but you get the drift...Ha!

Hope your weekend is going well.

Yesterday I met my dear blog friend, Miss Paula,
(Gathering of Friends).
I loved it!
There I was minding my own business when up popped an
email stating that she was at Panera Bread about a half
hour from our home and would I want to come by?

I warned her it would be about half an hour. Then headed out.

When I arrived, there sat Miss Paula, pretty in pink.
Playing with her pretty pink computer with its very own
black computer bag with pink straps. Too cute...and so pink!

We had a very quick chat as I had guests coming for dinner.

I am looking forward to seeing Miss Paula again while she is in
our wonderful state of PA.

Gotta run and grab some zzzz's.
Tomorrow will be here way too soon.

The End of a Three Year Commitment

When you commit to a three year volunteer assignment how you will feel at the end of those years rarely crosses your mind.

Will you be happy?
Sad?
Both?

Well, that is where I find myself today.

With mixed emotions we chaired our last Homeschool Board Meeting last evening. A new couple came who are considering taking that big leap and becoming three year volunteers. I could not help but feel excited and a bit "maternal" for them, as their eyes got bigger and bigger the longer the evening went on. They are a lovely couple and will do fine. It is just a bit overwhelming at first.

The people in the above photo are now lifelong friends, even though some of them were strangers to us just two years ago. Bonds have formed. We have prayed together for many concerns, we have shared meals, met at least monthly...Relationships are developed. This is what we will miss most. This picture was taken a couple of months ago at Hershey Farm Restaurant as we enjoyed sweet fellowship.

There have been so many changes on the Board since we joined. So much more responsibility has been taken on by these dedicated people that it is my prayer that God will continue to bring the volunteer members who truly have a heart for the homeschoolers in this County. It is an almost invisible job...serving on this Board...but it is important! Warren and I will certainly always be thankful for our time there.

As I handed over the responsibilities that have become a natural part of my day there was, admittedly, some relief. However, I know that even as I won't have that responsibility, doors have opened on the "Church Front" to be able to encourage, support and share information. There is never a lack of opportunity to serve. Of course, within our own homeschool co-op I will be kept quite busy teaching music to 46 4-6th graders, a high school choir and a high school class on comedy...keeping it light! There is a Thanksgiving Program to plan and coordinate for the entire Co-op. I love doing this!!!

So I guess this post is about myself, telling myself, that it will be ok.
Reminding myself to be thankful for that season in our lives.

We are now within two years of the boys schooling at home being completed...unless we do college at home...doubtful...
and Chelsea is so independent she will not need much from me after they are done. I'll bug her to let me teach her something anyway...cause I love it!

Phases of life.

So quickly they pass.

Hope you are enjoying the phase you are in today.

It will pass.

Love Ya!

Thanks for "listening".
