Share a Book Link

Miss Paula is speaking my
language with this linking opportunity
to share a good book or series.

I immediately thought of two books
that I read and re-read as a young
girl and then saved for a future child
I might have.
Chelsea has loved them.
Our copies are well worn.

Kate Seredy wrote and illustrated
The Good Master
and a sequel, The Singing Tree.

I would get lost in these books with
their fabulous illustrations, the
great storylines and unusual setting.

Check out some of the artwork.

Thanks, Miss Paula, for bringing this back to my memory today.
I went to Wikipedia and see that there are many more books by
this author. I will have to be on the lookout for them. The
artwork alone is worth having the books but the stories are so
well written, as well.

I know that it was one of these books that sparked my interest in
crafting as they decribed the waxing and decorating of easter eggs.
Not, the kind of dip and go eggs we do now...the extravagant wax, color,
dip, uncover, color...you know what I mean. Ukranian eggs. Awesome!

As a child this so fascinated me.
Our Easter eggs were a bit more special
the after I first read this.

I have gone back to my old dip and go...
but there is always this little something
that wants to take it further.

Thank you for introducing me to a new set of books. I had never heard of these and so will be on the lookout. I have an ongoing list of books to look for as the direct result of reading blogs.

I have never heard of the book you mentioned!! The illustrations are very nice. Just like the Little House Books, the illustrator Garth Williams adds to the books. I hope they never change them.
