Today we light the second Advent Candle
and with this we are half way through
the Advent Season already.

It should be no surprise that it is
going quickly since all of 2008 has
been a blur.

Different families in the church are
taking turns reading and lighting
the candle. Today it will be done
by the Andreolas. A lovely family
whom we all adore. The second candle
will be lit and words will be spoken.
Hopefully our hearts will hear them
and rejoice.

Immediately following the
lighting of the candle we will sing that
beautiful song, Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.
So mournful and pleading...reflecting our
need of a Savior...

"Dear desire of every Nation...
Joy of every longing heart!"

Oh, how I love this song!

I trust you have a lovely day...
keeping Christ in Christmas.

Blessings,
♥♥Becky K.♥♥

I love participating in this. And I love to see the different families take part in this wonderful advent season.

This is the first church that I have been a part of that observes Advent. I really love the focus on His Coming!

Beautiful photo!

We love advent at our house, too, and use the purple and pink candles... do you know the significance of the colors?

Terri,
My research over the last couple of years has led me to understand that you can change the focus of every candle except the Christ Candle to suit your purposes.

Sometimes they all represent things like peace, joy and love...other times the people involved in the Christmas story...

We have done both. I have written the Advent Readings in other years for the Church. It is nice to have Kelly make it all happen this year.
