Not long ago one of my
favorite bloggers, Melissa
at The Inspired Room, decided
to offer an opportunity for
anyone who has been putting
off a home DIY project to move
beyond our fear and get started.
As soon as I read this challenge
I knew what I had to do.
Some of you may remember my asking
your opinion as to what to do with
these some time ago.
Then I got scared.
Scared because my Mother-in-law
gave us these chairs and I don't
know what she might think about
my painting them cream...since that
is what I plan to do.
Chelsea and I went out today and
picked up paint and the new fabric
for the seats.
When I saw Melissa had begun the
Procrastinator's Party the
determination grew...
Here goes nothing!
Hopefully I will have some adorable
chairs to show you in a week or so.
I can see them in my mind's eye...
sure hope reality and expectations
meet nicely...

Okay, I haven't posted my before photos yet, but I have one of the exact same chairs. Your left one. Mine I've had since the early 1990s. We used it for a long time, the leather seat covered a broken rattan seat. After years, the leather seat broke. So, now I've got a new solution. It may take longer than 2 weeks to do, we'll see. I'm also painting mine white/cream. We'll see how they turn out!
Oh Becky~go for it! I know what you mean...I have a large piece of furniture my MIL gave us and I am going to paint it this year. I think it will improve it's appearance and prolong it's life!
Can't wait to see the chairs after!
Hey! in-laws won't get mad at us when we do some make-over of their stuffs.
Mine, loves when I change the features of the furnitures. She never thought of my thoughts. Just try and do the best of it. I promise, she'll be astonish.
Go girl...
Hi Becky,
Just discovered your blog when I went to the Inspired Room's party (still debating if I will join in!). As soon as I saw your header I knew it was Longwood!! What a treat- just about my favorite place! We recently moved from Berks Co., PA to NC so had to give up our annual m'ship to Longwood and I miss it right about now!

Good luck with your project too!! Can't wait to see how the turn out!

Best wishes with it!
I've got some chairs to do, too, but I can't even think about attempting them just yet. Maybe once we're done with school.
I'm afraid I'll have to strip mine, which makes the idea of procrastination even more attractive.
"Procrastinator" is my middle name.
So you know this post got my attention! Looking forward to your post when you show your chairs finished. Now I have to think about which of the MANY undone projects I want to do...
Have a good day...Jill
I think MIL will be proud that you're fixing them up to use them in your home.
ooooo those are going to be beautiful! I love anything cream or white. cant wait to see it!
You go for it, the important thing is that YOU LOVE THEM! I bet she'll be thrilled that you will enjoy them all the more!
Can't wait to see the end result!
Happy painting!
I think my projects seem boring after seeing what others are doing.
I'm sure your chairs will be lovely- The after party is going to be fun.
They will be perfect! Have fun with it! Can't wait to see them finished!
I think they will be gorgeous when you get them finished. I'm a procrastinator too, especially if it's doing something I'm not real comfortable with.

I think they'd be adorable painted cream. Can't wait to see them finished!
oohh, I had those same feelings about my project...because it belonged to a Favorite Aunt at one time, I didn't want to hurt her feelings by changing it...but, I know she gave it to me with no strings attached. I am sure your MIL will be pleased with the outcome...can't wait to see them!
Good Luck,
Susie
You go, girl! I can't wait to see the finished chairs.
Wonderful blog!!!!
