Writing Objectives.....

It is complicated.
Chelsea finished the Pa. State Requirements
for graduation during the last school year.
We allowed her to "walk" in the
county wide graduation.  But because of her
age I was not willing to rock the boat with the
school district and we will report this year
as her final year of formal High School Education.

I have no problem doing this
as Chelsea will be working
every bit as hard
learning fine arts, public speaking,
working in retail,
baking, photography,
learning the electric guitar,
song writing,
teaching children where she
does childcare.... and more.

We will visit a local college
on Tuesday morning to investigate
classes available to her during this school year.
As she is very shy she wants to take a class in
public speaking.
Yes, it is her idea.
She doesn't like
being uncomfortable
in this area.
So her answer?
Work on it!

When we were in Kentucky
Chelsea met a woman who
worked for the music company
where she wants
to intern in a couple of years.
Would you believe this woman also
graduated at the age of 15 and worked
an internship with the company before
being hired there permanently?
That was all Chelsea needed to hear!
She visited with this woman
on a couple of occasions
and learned what the requirements
are for internships....
that has set us on this course.

Chelsea is very, very goal oriented.
So, as I said, I have no problem whatsoever
writing up her objectives for this school year.

They include but are not limited to:

Art:
Painting, photography, sketching, sales on Etsy
Music:
Songwriting, Electric Guitar, College Level Class(es)
English:
Poetry, College Level Speech Class
Math:
Business Math, Work in Retail
Bible:
College Level Class
Home Ec:
Continuing her interest in baking and
healthy cooking

A Fine Arts Program if I ever saw one....
but if you could see the hours that go into these interests
you would be mightily impressed.
I am!

Her first canvas
A very common sight around here.....

Becky, I agree with you on your thoughts on "not rocking the boat..." Great ideas on how to handle early graduation.
I graduated from a Christian school in '81 in PA. Over the final years, they allowed me to increase my work load and I actually finished in Oct. of my senior year. I went to work full time which allowed me to earn money for college. Personally, if we, as perents, are creative, there are ways around the rules and regulations and still allow continuing education. Good for you!

A young girl with a head on her shoulders that knows what she wants. Not many that way now. She will have no problems with overcoming the speaking issue. She is very pretty and talented. Love her art work. Wishing her the best.

Isn't it funny how the things they naturally gravitate to, that we think are just hobbies, are really REAL learning! It's the blessing of a home education!

She is going to do well, and good for her with the public speaking. That is a challenge for almost everyone! NO Fear!

I got to go to a fine arts high school my senior year...I had several music classes, dance, several art classes and as I needed one more credit in history I took History As Seen Through the Fine Arts. :) It was a wonderful year and I've used everything I learned that year as I am an artist and worship leader at church. It is wonderful to read about your daughter, Becky and you have many reasons to be a proud mommy!! May our Lord shower blessings on Chelsea as she works toward her goals.

That curriculum looks like so much fun along with a lot of work. What a great plan.
And those 2 drawings are amazing-really. I especially like the black and white one. So are you going to add open an Etsy shop to Chelsea's goals? She could learn lots here too!

Each state is so different. My own daughter graduated from high school early by taking several college classes and doing honors level work. Sounds as if Chelsea will have her hands full doing all the things that she loves. Very educational!

I love Chelsea's attitude. She has hutspa! She has so many talents. I think that our children, as homeschoolers, seem to have so many more talents that public school children, but I believe that is simply because our children have the advantage of having the time and encouragement from parents to foster those talents and then allow them to see which one(s) they want to really commit to.
I will being praying for your Tuesday morning appointment and for Chelsea as she plunges into the world of public speaking.
