A Sweet Wedding

Finally the day arrived.
October 10, 2010
or
10-10-10.

It seems so long ago that my
friend Sue called and said that
her daughter would be married
on this date and could I do their
wedding candles?

The day was glorious.
The changing leaves glowing
in the sun against the blue sky.

The boys loaded the van with
the many boxes of candles before
we left for church.  I am so very
glad this bride chose just one
fragrance(clean breezes)
because it made the car
smell so sweet.

I buckled the Mikasa Stems
in the seat beside me.
Funny little passenger
that box made.

But it worked!

It was unclear what  my responsibilities would
be upon arrival.  Would I just drop the candles
and leave, returning in time for the ceremony?
Would I stay and help set up?

I stayed!
And loved it!

Setting up the Unity Candle with
It was so dark and I was zooming in from the back of the sanctuary.
the church's wedding coordinator.

And then setting out 150 punch cups
on twenty-something tables.
A friend of the Bride had made the
centerpieces which were very pretty
with the floating candles lit.

None of the pictures I took during the
ceremony came out well.  We were
sitting in the back and I was just at
a wrong angle to get good shots.

However, I did get this great photo of
the Mother of the Bride, my dear friend,
Sue.
I loved this blue jacket!
She was so calm and seemed
to be enjoying the day.

This is the sister of the bride.

She is a former music student of mine.
So grown up and in college now.
Bethany gave a wonderful toast.
It was a perfect blend of sisterly
love and humor.

I cannot quit this post without raving
about the food.  One of the relatives
is an amazing cook.  She made chicken
parmesan, spaghetti, garlic toast and
salad.  Oh.my.goodness.  The best
wedding food I have ever eaten.
I am not the only person to think so.
Lots of happy guests at this reception.

She also made the cake that was not
only very pretty, but was moist
and delicious.

Sending best wishes to
Michael and Christina
as you
begin your life together.
May you keep Christ in the center
and love each other deeply.

Becky, this wedding turned out beautifully! Glad your candles were a part of this occasion - they are beautiful and I know it added a special feeling (and aroma) to the wedding. I love Sue's blue jacket, too - have a wonderful week!

Hey Becky!
I really loved reading your post here.. It's neat getting other people's perspectives of the wedding and also hearing about behind and before the scene moments that I would never have known about otherwise. I was very pleasantly surprised that you helped to set up! Thank you so much! And thanks for making the beautiful candles and for your friendship! <3 I am actually burning one of those candles right now.. as my daughter and son in law are enjoying their honeymoon in VA beach, Beth is back at school and Zack and his wife went home to NY :(
