The Waiting

Every family knows these moments.
The waiting.
To see how a dear loved one will do.

All across the country phones ring
with updates about our  loved one.
Is she responsive?
What do the doctors say?

Dear Grandma is going to have a very
interesting day. She will have some
tests this morning and then they
plan to remove her from the respirator.

Only God knows how that will go for her.
Is this the day she will
go to her eternal home?
To see her husband already gone?
Her son, my Dad....
waiting and urging
her to come?
"Look Mom ~
It's...Jesus!"

Or maybe her lungs have had the time
to repair and have the ability to
breathe again...
Perhaps her days here are not through.

How much damage
has been done to her heart?
No one knows.
No one here, at least.
So...we wait.

Her son and daughter
remaining on this side
of eternity will be with her.

If she survives today, and nothing
else changes, Mom and I are going to
head to Virginia tomorrow morning.

What is comforting in situations
such as these is to know that our
days have been known to our Creator
before we were even born.

We won't be taken too soon...
nor left too long.
Hard to see this sometimes.
Faith and Trust are never more
evident or important than in times such as these.

I am sure that Grandma Esther would
appreciate your prayers today.
I know I would.

Much Love to all of you who read here.
Your prayers mean so much.

There is no greater pain than having a loved one so ill or near time to be called home. And, that will happen only when the good Lord is ready for her. Blessings to you and family.

Oh that waiting... Hope that your grandmother will respond quickly or will simply slip into her eternal reward without a lot of waiting. Waiting is so hard. Prayers and a gentle hug...
