Tranquility In the Blueberry Patch

It was the perfect morning.
Low humidity, blue skies
and birds singing their little
hearts out....

This is the entrance to the blueberry patch.

This year someone has tied the bushes up.
In years past they had looked much more wild.

I began picking, thinking how very long it
was going to take to fill my quart container.

Most of the berries still needed time to truly ripen
but in a self pick patch like this one
it is not likely to happen.

People get excited and pick anything that
is blue so you just have to do your best.
Fortunately, I like a tart berry
so it works for me.

In the mosaic you can see my mother
getting her baskets filled.

I meandered, looking around...
watching the birds
and
picking if I had to.

I picked one quart.
She got two.

Georgia picks with more attention
to getting just the best berries so she
also got fewer berries but you can bet
they were the biggest and the sweetest.

Back home again
and with a day or two
for the berries
to sweeten up
Chelsea made a blueberry pie.

It was eaten quickly at
the Fellowship Meal at church
yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by.
I am joining up with both
Sally's Blue Monday
and
Mary's Mosaic Monday.

For a precious post about
Sally you should visit
LaVoice.
I would say that the tone of this
post is true also for Mary.
What wonderful hostesses these
ladies are.

Have a wonderful day.
You are just...
the Best!

I remember as a child in Maine we would go picking wild blueberries... and get quarts and quarts and quarts! Enough for a whole winter's worth of blueberry muffins. yum!

Chelsey's pie looks absolutely amazing... I can almost taste is through the screen;-)

Becky, that looks wonderful. I adore blueberries. As a matter of fact, another blogger and I just went to lunch and had the best Blueberry dessert I think I have ever put in my mouth. I have a photo of it on my blog, and she blogged about it, too. It was GOOD! Oh, was it GOOD! This makes me hungry for blueberries again. Gee thanks... my diet is shot! ;-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

I stock up on them every summer. They freeze great on a cookie sheet and them seal them up in bags like little blue marbles.
Yum, yum.

It is not easy picking berries, but the end result makes it worthwhile. A big, juicy blue berry pie. Wish I had a slice now.

Hi Becky dear, thank you so much fo your many comments while I was on blog break. Today has been too quiet but I did take a loooong nap. I slept so long i feel guilty. HA! My intention was to visit all day but I kept falling asleep with my hand on the keyboard. I finally gave in to sleep.

The blueberries are wonderful. I wish I knew where I could pick blueberries. I do have lots of black raspberries and blackberries growing on the side of my yard. My daughter and I made two batches of raspberry preserves yesterday. this morning I made sour cherry preserves. Love it!!!

Gotta run, my dh has offered to hang some plate rails I have wanted to put up for two years. Yippee.
Love you, Jeanne
