The Big Bad Wolf

It lurks outside the windows
seeking a way in.
Howling, panting,
puffing away.
The windows shudder.
The trees moan.
This wolf is strong.
Its name is Winter.

I wrote this because it
is how this storm seems
to me.

Puffing and panting.
Its one desire to reach
into our home.

Wind gusts of up to
60 miles per hour.

Constant blowing of
25 - 35 mph.

But our home is strong.
Brick and mortar,
wood and glass stop
winter dead in its tracks.

Hope you are warm and cozy
wherever you may be.

Personally, I am counting
the days until my new header
picture is once again a reality!
This photo was taken at Longwood
Gardens in April 2009.

Becky, I am with you all the way..still storming here...the sky is very dark gray...oops actually white out right now. I know Spring is out there and I am patiently waiting.

I love your new header! It makes me long even more for spring & summer.

Wow, 60 mile an hour winds must make you feel like a snow hurricane is bearing down.

Stay safe & warm!

Hugs,
Carol

G'day, Becky ~ I love your poem, it is beautiful.

I am enjoying every single moment of this wonderful white winter ... from day one to end of the season. Altho, your header is enticing to speed things up a wee bit ... chuckle!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Becky
Oh I'm counting the days to spring and it really is coming. You are having heavy winds...unsettling sometimes.
We're having snow for a change too although it has stopped for now...we've been so lucky this winter.

Did you write that poem? I liked it!
have a great day and weekend
Judi

I sometimes wonder if I'll ever be warm again, but then I realize that living in Florida, I have a good chance.

You've mentioned Longwood Gardens a few times. Your son is going there, which I think is great. I visited Longwood Gardens one time, last year. I hope to go back one day. I loved it there; so pretty! If you would like to see pictures that I took while there, you can do so by searching for Longwood Gardens on my blog.

It really was a wolf of a storm. It sounded like a freight train passing by all night long.

You certainly do have Spring fever, don't you? Your new header is beautiful. I love the snow and really have been enjoying it and the way that is keeps us home more this year. There are so many years that we don't get much snow. But, alas, I must admit, I do look forward to warmer outdoor temperatures if for no other reason but to get these boys outside more to burn more energy!
