A Story and a Song

I go to pick up Jonathan at his job
during the wee hours one day a week.

I have time to reflect and
listen to the radio.
Truth be told most of the time
I am so in my own head that I don't
pay attention to lyrics.

However this song grabbed my attention.
I remember one night Georgia had gone
along with me to help me stay awake and
this song came on.
I told her to listen and I said this
songwriter knows what they are talking
about and has walked through some rough waters.

I had no reason to say that
other than the truth and conviction of the lyrics.

Today I searched for the song and found the
story.  I was so right.
If you have about five minutes this is the
songwriter/performer telling
her own story.

Ironically, her name is
Laura Story

And now you can hear the song
that started the search.

Does it grab you too?
Can you relate?

I can.
We have a son who continues to struggle
from results of oxygen deprivation at birth.
Does it make him any less special, smart, loved?
No!!
He is a huge blessing!!
Has it been easy??
No!!
I hurt for him in this job as
things that others take for granted are
such a struggle.
But, his blessings are coming through raindrops!

We went through a "hurricane" in 2005
as my Dad grew increasingly paralyzed over
the course of a week and long story short
left this world at the age of 58.
He had his healing while we were left with
tears.
A blessing....
But not the way we would have chosen it.

Just a little over a year later
Warren's Dad lost his battle with a
spinal chord tumor after
a valiant struggle and a major brain
injury.  Life seemed so very cruel.
God often seemed so distant.
But He wasn't.
He was evident in so many ways.

Our blessings so often come
disguised as storms,.
And we are still waiting for eternity to
understand so much of the journey.
But, we know that WE KNOW
the One who directs the storms
that come into our lives.
He truly does bring the best from
these hard times.

I would be perfectly fine
to avoid any more such
experiences but only God knows
what is in store and I know
that if we have to walk those
deep waters again
He will be so close.
He will direct our path.

If you are struggling with something
big today
know that God is at work in it.
Don't feel Him?
That doesn't mean He isn't with you....
He has promised never to leave you
or forsake you.

And as He is the original
"Promise Keeper"
you have to take Him at His word..

Hugs,

What an amazing testimony and a sweet song with a clear message. We might get what we need and not what we want. Yes, it grabs me, too...

What a wonderful post Becky. Your faith in times of hardship go hand in hand with the words of this beautiful song. Her testimony behind this song was inspiring.

P.S. Chelsea looks adorable, and so do you. You look like a teenager in your new glasses!

Oh my dear friend, GOD is with us thru everything BIG AND SMALL! TWO years ago, my husband was in an accident and two teenagers lost their lives! It wasn't my husband's fault but it hurt us to the core! Without God's hand, I don't know how we could have made it! We have all walked those paths... holding on tight to FAITH!

BIG HUGS dear friend! Troubling times do makes us stronger!
