Wynonna!

That girl can sing! I knew that, of course, and so on August 29th of this year I purchased 2 verrrryyyyy good seats at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA as a 40th birthday celebration. Friends from church, when they heard, gathered money and instructed Warren and I to make an overnight trip out if it...they would take care of the kiddos. Isn't that sweet???

Anyway, the day finally came for the concert and leaving family and friends behind we headed out on our adventure. It was a cold and drizzly day with fog and a severe weather advisory but all was well for us. Other than missing a major route and having to go directly through the city of Philadelphia, pulling over into empty parking lots to read the map, and getting to the Theatre with just enough time for me to not be able to wait in the very long line for the Ladies Room before the concert began...it was perfect!

I think one of the things that made me choose Wynonna for this birthday bash is that she is just three years older than I am, at 43. I can relate to her comment that she is becoming more like her mother all of the time, and she is ok with that. Oh my goodness, Wynonna was wearing a tiara and a long gown. I'll bet when she was younger she would never have believed it! Gone was the "hard edge" that she wore and this woman was beautiful and learning to be comfortable in her own place in life right now, raising children and doing Christmas Concerts. We surely do change with time and adjusting our expectations to be "our own", as opposed to what we think others expect from us, is one of the biggies.

The Christmas music was unbelievably beautiful. There were several musicians of an outstanding calibre providing the accompaniment. Warren enjoyed the sound! This was big! My husband is a talented "sound man". It is a very rare day that we go to a concert and he enjoys the quality or mix of the sound system. He said this one sounded really good! Congrats to the theatre and Wynonna's team for pulling that one off! I, however, can enjoy just about anything about the sound mix, unless there is feedback involved. So, I waited for the review and was thrilled that he enjoyed it.

The Keswick Theatre is one of those old original theatres that still exist in some American towns. We had not been there before. It is beautiful with all of the woodwork and huge staircases that led to the aforementioned powder rooms. You see, I am 40 now...they are important to me!

I am currently sitting in a lovely Hotel room at 7 am wishing that I was still sleeping. I've been awake for more than a half an hour. Why, oh why, do I always wake up at the same time....even when I don't have to? It makes me want to wake Warren....just because...it is not fair! He is sleeping so peacefully! Have you ever felt that way? Not the best quality of mine, I know...and I will not wake him up. Because I love him and I want the best for him and right now that is sleep... right?

The "Moms" will be handling school with the kids today. I hope it goes well. They will be learning more about Greece and the surrounding regions past and present after they complete their math and reading. (Actually, Chelsea did her math for today last evening...she was planning ahead.) Yes, I called home. I just had to. Do you know that I found out that the regular crowd that hangs out at our house on Sunday nights came over anyway...even though Warren and I were not there? They cooked and played games. They watched a movie. I don't believe they even missed the two of us!

That is why it is always interesting to see what happens when we go away and why I call our home Hospitality Lane!

I am so glad you enjoyed your concert! I have always liked Wynonna, the Lord has certainly taken her through some deep waters over the last several years. Glad that she has softened.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Sounds like you are having a good time. That was nice of the church to make it a longer get a way for you two. How fun!

That's so wonderful that you're able to make it an overnight trip! That was really nice of your friends.

I know, I wake up at the same time every morning, even on days I can sleep in.

Wynonna seems to finally have found some peace (from what I can tell in recent interviews). She comes from such a interesting family of strong talented women. Her mother is the most interesting of them all I think!
