What is Happening, You Ask???

Well, since you asked...Wink.

Yesterday was our first day at our
homeschool co-op. It was one of the
most fun ~ first days ~ ever.

There are nineteen young people in the
Jr/Sr high ensemble. They are very
gifted and when we worked a bit on hearing
notes and harmonies they impressed me...
it was lovely!
This group will be performing songs of
a Praise and Worship theme in our Fall
Concert.

The 4th-6th grade choir is 43 young people
strong! They fill our choir room with energy
and enthusiasm. There are many boys and they
are quite a mix of musical abilities and experience.
We had so much fun yesterday...I can't wait for the
rest of the year. We will be doing songs with a
southern gospel flavor in the Fall Concert.

Having a concert one week before Thanksgiving makes
a Christmas Concert seem early so last year we did
a Thanksgiving theme. It is very hard to find enough
Thanksgiving Songs for all of our choirs. So this year
we are doing music themes. I think it will be great!

As you saw from yesterday's post, I am also heading into
the candle abyss. Actually, it is with much enthusiasm
that I begin this candle season. I have great hopes
for more fundraisers that will keep me hopping.

And then there is the elephant in the room!
Mikey and Mom leave tomorrow for El Salvador.
Yikes!
Mikey has never flown.
This will be interesting.
He is also a very picky eater, so we have
been stocking up on nutritious snacks for
him to take along so that his blood sugars
stay level even if he doesn't eat full meals.
How frustrating to have a kid whose blood sugar
is so low who dislikes food...but we are working
on it and his health is improving.

I learned a lot about how sugar affects one's emotions
when my Dad was diagnosed with diabetes. It can be
devastating. I am so thankful, however, that it can
be managed and that our bodies give us these signals.

So, Mom and Mikey's biggest prayer request for the
travel part of the trip is that they would make their
connection in Atlanta tomorrow. They have just one
hour from landing to takeoff again. This will be enough
time if everything works out smoothly
on their first flight.
The last two times Mom has flown
this has not been the case
so she is kind of nervous.

It was getting to be just too much
to try to pull together the garage
sale for this weekend so we are going
to have it after Mom gets back. I couldn't
get her to stop working on it and leave it
to me and I was afraid she would be just too
exhausted by the time they left.
So...the good news is
we have tons of items priced and ready.
Less to do later.

Warren continues to struggle with severe pain. He had
some tests and procedures done in the hospital
on Wednesday that were more invasive and extensive
than we had any idea they would be when we went in.
Please pray that he can get this resolved.
He will be talking to his doctor today.

Tonight, I will take Jonathan to his second Grad social.
Since Mikey will be packing and then heading to bed early
he will miss it. But, Jonathan and I will be there.
He is so excited to see the new friends he made at the
Ice Cream social. This is a bowling event so he should
feel pretty comfortable. We bowl every Tuesday. He is
a "power" bowler.
Jonathan is one of the sweetest and nicest young men
that I know. Not that I am biased, or anything...but
he has taken a back seat this past summer for Mikey's
dreams and goals so it thrills me to get
to do something for him.
What an exciting year this will be.
Fun stuff! Busy days!

Here is to a wonderful weekend to you and yours.
Thanks for bearing with me as I chronicle our
crazy lives.

Wow, you are one busy family! We will be praying for Mikey and Ruth as they head to El Salvador. How exciting! Also holding Warren in prayer for conclusive test results and a lessening of his pain. We will be around tonight if Chelsea wants to come up.... Dave is working so we may even head to the Fair for our last night of fair food for one more year! Have a great Friday!
