It doesn't have to be said that
the primary reason to leave our
home with all of its creature
comforts and go to a nice
but primitive location is the
beauty of nature.
However, that is not the only reason
we love to go there.
When we head north we often take our
friend and Pastor, Mike, along. Last
year he didn't go with us and even I
found myself a bit bored. Not that I
get so excited about all of the rocketry
but I do love to watch the excitement of
the guys. There is a certain amount of
uncertainty with every launch.
For this trip Mike prepared some very
unusual specimens.
For weeks leading up to the trip
we made Jonathan happy
and bought bottled soda.
Jonathan is convinced that this
beverage is perfection while
Mike wanted
the bottles to make this...
While it is colorful, I didn't find
it particularly majestic or pretty.
It did launch but looked a bit funky when
it landed....hard!
If you could have seen the delight and heard
the roars of laughter!
Then there was the rocket whose engine malfunctioned.
It landed shooting fire and smoke.
Mike made a rocket out of a cardboard box.
It was large and heavy...
But we launched it more than once
until...it flew over the cabin,
over the stream...and into the woods.
You can watch it happen here...
Or...You can enjoy the very cold water flowing over my feet
as I stand in the middle of the stream.
Just for you!
Please ignore my stupid commentary.
It sounds like I think I am
reporting some golf event...
I am too lazy to figure out
how to edit it tonight.
You'll notice it stops abruptly when
some smart kid splashes me!
Just a few more posts about the mountains
and I will leave it behind...for another year.
Memories...many, many memories.
So much fun to make!
Have an awesome day!

Oh Becky,
I loved both videos, the excitement about the rocket going off, and ofcourse the sound of the stream and the view you were seeing was just amazing. I loved it, and thank you so much for taking me to the cabin. I so enjoyed my tour, and it was so much fun. Thanks for sharing. I had a wonderful time. Stop by and say hi. I so love to share. I'm having a Fall give away. Country hugs, Sherry
I don't "get" the rockets, but it looks like they had fun. I do like that stream, though. It was nice to hear your voice.
Hi Becky, those rockets look a bit scary to me. Good thing I didn't have boys! Ha.
That stream looks wonderful!!
Barb :-)
Clever rocket with the bottles. Hope they wear ear plugs upon firing. Boom!

Beautiful location, lots of fun family stuff, rockets with Mike....sounds perfect to me Becky! No wonder you love it so!
Oh Becky,
I just loved both of your videos.
The mountain stream is beautiful.
Love & Prayers,

Your trip to the mountains sounded like so much fun. I enjoyed your videos, the stream is just beautiful!
I love the woods and mountains too... and I share your love for the wild streams too. When I was a girl we had a beautiful stream that ran behind our house. My brother and I would spend hours and hours out there. A good bit of splashing went on there too;)
Wow! Love the rocket Mike built and the video was great. Ever find the rocket after that? :o)
Cool stream water over the toes. Not much better in life.
