Mini Drive-by

We had to make a quick run to
Groff's Plant Farm yesterday.

Mikey needed to pick up a few
more ferns for one of his jobs.

He drove which left me free to
snap some photos as we went.

This home catches my eye every time
as it sits at a lovely angle on its
large lot and is meticulously maintained.

I think it looks so cozy tucked into
its little nook. If you click on the
photo you will see a matching garage
in the back.
So cute!

Slightly different, but a favorite
thing to see each time we use this
road is right behind these trees...

I have to wonder about the history.
How old is this?
Who lived here at one time?

There are stories all around us.
Seeing places like this make
my curiousity bubble to the
surface. The time involved in
this stonework had to be fairly
significant.

Just a bit of sight-seeing
for all of us today.

Have a lovely Tuesday!

This is such a cool post, Becky. When we lived in State College, there was the ruins of an old log house just off a hiking path beside our development. The only thing left was the chimney, foundation and the outhouse. There was an old metal bedframe and some other junk visible. There used to be iron ore mines there and I suppose one of the workers lived there.

That first place is a charming sight, and the second a mystery. You could make up a story about each. Thanks for sharing.

I'm always fascinated by old abandoned homes I see. I wonder who lived there, how many children were raised in the house, etc.
Great post today!

Great photos. Those old abandoned houses always set my imagination in motion.

By the way, it looks like Mikey is getting lots of work just through word of mouth, but I don't know if he passed along a suggestion that I had. You are such an avid picture taker, you might want to think about taking some before and after photos for him on some of the jobs. He could put them into an album and have something to show future customers:)

I can't imagine having this much property and am always in awe when I drive around up there. You can go to city hall and get the old records to find out who use to live in the older remains. Often if there is a family generation type business in town they know who lived where and when.

oooh... I love thinking about that little stone home.... It reminds me of a home in Ireland or something in a book or movie... Thanks for the cool post. Hugs.

I love that stonework!

It seems sad that it is all that is left of a home, doesn't it?
