Orchids and More at Longwood Gardens

Mikey had his interview with
Longwood Gardens yesterday.
It was so neat!

There is a lengthy and involved
process to walk through to see if
he will qualify for an internship,
however, he is very excited and willing
to do whatever he can to get into the
Program.

It is very competitive.
Only ten students will be chosen.
His chances seem slim at this point,
however, it would be so wrong to
discourage him. Who ever would have
thought that they would even
be willing to talk to us in the first place!

Whether he gets into the
High School Internship Program, or not, he will take
classes that will certify him in certain areas
of Horticulture.
This will be a wonderful experience for Mikey.

As we ate lunch yesterday, Mikey
was buried in the Course Book totally
caught up in all of the options!

These photos are some that I snapped
as we went through the Gardens yesterday.
I highly recommend clicking on them to
see all of the detail...they will enlarge
very nicely.
Due to the nasty weather we nearly
had the place to ourselves.

The workers were taking advantage of that fact and
were busy bees all around. It was neat, in light of
Mikey's dream, to get to see them at work.

How do they do these things?
Amazing!

It was so surreal to walk through snowflakes to the Conservatory to find all of this color and summer or spring like conditions.
From this...

To This...

A new display was going up. It is a large hanging "Orchid"
with baskets of draping orchids carefully hung from each petal.

I think we should all have one or two of these orchid display
cases. That way they can maintain the proper humidity and we
can enjoy them...like we could afford them. I told Jonathan
he needs to learn to make these...so pretty!

Or a chandelier like this?

More eye candy...

We will be taking all of the necessary steps
to apply for this internship.
I'll let you know if anything exciting develops.
It won't be until May that we know one way or the
other...so like I said, it is not quick!

Hope you have a wonderful day today!

Enjoy some beauty, whether it is flowers, your own
craftiness, or something else that speaks to you.

Your Friend,
♥♥Becky K.♥♥
