Blue Skies for Launch

A blue Monday Post hosted by
Sally at the Smiling Sally Blog.
Hope you'll visit again!

You would never know it by the looks
of the sky in this picture but there
were storms to the north and the south
of us on Saturday as we launched rocket
after rocket.

Those coming down to our Southern Lancaster
County location from the North drove through
torrential rains. The wind was a bit higher
than we normally like to launch in, as well,
but we had a great time and no rockets were
lost...one had to be retrieved from a hog pen
on the other side of the road...
but it wasn't lost!

Several smaller rockets had launched without problems so
Pastor Mike pulled out his large rocket. He has invested
a lot of time and effort into this one so he rarely shoots
it. He has to feel very comfortable with the conditions.

The boys stand in anxious attention as it is prepared
to be placed on the launchpad. They actually saluted as
it lifted off. So funny!

Just a sampling of the rockets...
This was made by my friend, Kelly's
husband and boys. They each helped to
build it and then each was responsible
to paint one section.

One ready to launch!

Mikey's Dragonfly...

In between launches the boys did what
boys do so well...they played in the grass.
A little wrestling and competition.

And what do girls do during all of this
fun? Well, if you are a chihuahua named
Chloe, you chase the rockets as they come
down...until you are just too tired and
hot to do this anymore.
Then you lay in the grass with Chelsea.

Until finally you are all rested
up and ready to play again.

Happy Blue Monday to you!
By the way...Barb is hosting a most delightful giveaway at her blog.
I do hope you will stop by and visit Bella Vista today.
If you haven't met this lovely blogger, I highly recommend you do it now.
You'll love her and the wonderful decor she excels in presenting.

Hello Happy Blue Monday, what a cute post and Chloe is a doll!
I'm gonna have to check out Longwood Gardens blog, I did not know they had one and we used to love to go there when we lived in NJ. Miss that place!

Lotsa boy fun! My boys used to love to do the rocket thing! Then they made a potato gun launcher and forgot about rockets!

I have a little chihuahua, too. Your little Chloe is precious!

Hi Becky :-) I admit to being a wee bit frightened of bottle rockets. Just call me a weinie, I'll stand way back & watch. Or better yet, lay in the grass with a darling pup like little Chloe.

It reminds me of the movie "October Sky" - looks like so much fun! Your little Chloe is so cute. I also have a little Chihuahua named Chloe and I think she would love to chase rockets around a big grassy area!

Happy Blue Monday!
