Blue Poppies and His Amazing Ways

This is a Blue Monday Post.... the first in a long time.
When I saw these blue poppies I was so excited. Something to show my friend, Sally!

For more blues....

I have a friend, Ruth, who has a tendency to see God in absolutely everything.
As far as I can tell that is a pretty good way to live life.
I mean, if we believe in His Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Providencial Care
and His promise to guide us then He is acutely aware of us and is bringing all things
in our lives together on purpose.

Some verses that I love:

Psalm 23:3b
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm 25:5
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Psalm 31:3
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

This weekend I saw His leading and guiding hand so clearly.
I got a horrible Summer cold.
Everything is early this year, right?
Even the Summer Colds!

The boys had suffered with it all week.
So I was pretty unhappy when I started in with it on Thursday.

Sometime late on Saturday it struck me that this was the weekend
that I had been so looking forward to.
I was supposed to have a table at our local mall to introduce candles
and in my mind make many sales.
But, a couple of weeks ago the organizers announced a date change....
to August!
I was pretty put out.
Soy candles and August don't exactly go well together.
But looking back at it now I know that there was no way
I could have been at the mall on this past Saturday from
8:00 am until 10:30 pm.
No way, at all!!

I am not out the fee and I didn't miss any sales.
God must have someone special for me to meet in August.
Do you think??

Also late on Saturday I came to the realization that there was no way I would be well enough
to attend church on Sunday.  I called Pastor Mike and broke the bad news.
This was particularly bad because I was supposed to play a new song that went well
with his sermon.
This meant that at late notice, Pastor Mike had to learn the song.
(I hear he did fine!)

But I found out the reason for my need to be at home Sunday morning when I
woke up that very morning.
On my Facebook was a message from a very, very dear friend.
Someone she loves is dying.
Perhaps is already gone as I type this....
but definitely dying.

Heartbreaking circumstances surround this situation and my dear
friend was in need of support.
We spent considerable time on the phone.
Hard times....but God is faithful.

If you read here regularly you know that most Sundays involve
hours and hours with our church family.
I love it.
But, while the kids come and go from the house on Sundays
I am usually gone from early morning until at least 5pm.
Yesterday it was 7:30 or so before Warren came home.
I'm just not available on Sundays.

Unless I'm sick, that is.

So, while I am not amused to feel so horrible
I am so thankful to know that it is not without purpose and it was
known in advance by the ONE who guides my path.

It makes me wonder the ways HE worked in my life
this weekend that I am not even aware of.

Amazing poppies!

He does work in wonderful and amazing ways. You were missed yesterday, but am thankful you were able to be home for that phone call.

Thinking of our dear friends, from church too, who lost her Dad this weekend.

Do people go on picnics in August? Maybe you can sell some smelly "bug-be-gone" citronella candles at the stall?

Don't wonder. While I don't believe He sent the cold, I do believe that He can use everything. Good old Providential Reversal at its finest!

Blue poppies? I have never heard of such a thing. They are amazing and amazingly beautiful.

Feel better, my friend, and do I hear the echo of "echinacea" on the breeze? ☺

Hi Becky,

I've been wondering how you're doing, and I'm glad to hear that you're still faithful. (We know that He is!)

Thanks for sharing your blue blooms.

Happy Blue Monday.

I hope you are soon on the mend! It is certainly thought provoking to see how God uses things in our day to day lives-I'm glad you were able to be home to spend time talking with your friend.

I've never seen blue poppies before. I'm not crazy about the red ones but the blue are beautiful. Are they at Longwood?

I'll have to show Clarence as he likes the regular poppies. I think blue ones might be a good compromise for us.
