Your Opinion Please...

'Tis the season to make decisions.
Which of my many, many fragrance
options do I want to offer for the Fall
and Christmas Fundraisers.

I have a friend, a very sweet friend,
who makes up my flyers.  It is such
a gift that she has.  I appreciate Bee
She loves the cappuccino candles and
I love to keep her supplied.
Bartering....it can be a very good thing.

I loved the design of last year's flyer
so much that I plan to keep it and just
add different photos and maybe an extra fragrance or two.

So, here is where you come in.
I am going to list the Top 12 Contenders
for this year.
I can only use 10 at the most.

So, which ones would you use?
If you only like one or two, that is ok.
I can compile the most popular.

Last year I offered these:

Apple Cinnamon
Candy Cane
Cappuccino
Cinnamon Bun
French Vanilla
Orange Clove
Potpourri Spice
Pumpkin Pie Spice

The ones I would love to
add are:

Mulberry Spice
Balsam
Cranberry Orange
Country Apple

That means I have at least two too many.
Which one or two to remove?
Yikes!
This is so hard.
I live with these choices
for months.

However, it is the most fun!
I am so excited for this candle season!
My family just laughs at me.

Diane, at Tomato Soup Cake
has asked me to write a bit about
starting and maintaining a small
business.
I hardly feel qualified but I am
willing to write a few posts about
my own experiences.
Those who know me are aware that
I have a very entrepreneurial brain.
Always thinking up new ideas.
Scary!!!!

I worked, many years ago, at a
Small Business Incubator.
Did you know there was such a thing?
Fun!
It is so neat to talk to folks who are
interested in beginning businesses and
creating jobs.
Maybe that is a clue as to my strong
belief in the American small business.
The challenges are great,
but the spirit is stronger.
I have met them.
These entrepreneurs.
Great people!!!!

So...back to my soap box
to say...
Please give your business to your
local shop owners
and farmers first!
They are working so hard
and will appreciate it immensely.

Have a great day!!!

Becky if I were going to add two out of the new ones, I think I would use:

Mulberry Spice
Cranberry Orange

Those sound Christmasy to me. I would almost have to smell them first, but I like the names!

Sheila :-)

oh my favorite smells for fall are apple and pumpkin so I would definitely add/keep fragrances that include them!

I'm not crazy about the scent of balsam, so I'd vote against that one. But probably a lot of people like it around the holidays?

I don't know what else I'd eliminate-some of them sound similar but may be quite different scents-so I'm no help at all!

My favorite scents are usually food flavors-I love lemon candles, and really like cranberry, hazelnut, vanilla and chocolate scents. Except when the chocolate smell makes me hungry. ;-)

Oh, definitely the balsam. People like to use it to simulate the smell of a Christmas tree when they have artificial trees in their homes.

I am glad you have to decide which ones to give up. Can you simply base it on sales?

If I were "losing" two, I'd lose candy cane and potpourri spice. The smell of peppermint is not my favorite room fragrance and potpourri spice sounds too generic. (I've not smelled these fragrances, though, so I'm just going on the names.)

How nice it would be for you to do a few posts on getting a small business started. But only if it's fun and NOT stressful. :D

I would get rid of candy cane and add country apple.

hmmmm...which were your WORST sellers...? start their to eliminate....I know pumpkin pie is popular..BUT many people do a pumpking...it will be neat to see what you come up with.

I, for one, always look for a balsam scented candle each Christmas because we always have an artificial tree. I think I would buy the apple one for fall. (But the all sound lovely.)

Wow, Becky, I love them all! I guess my top 10 favs would be:

Apple Cinnamon
Candy Cane
Cappuccino
Cinnamon Bun
French Vanilla
Orange Clove
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Mulberry Spice
Balsam
Cranberry Orange

Tough decision!!! :)

Have a lovely day,
Zuzu

I have a terrible time picking when all the choices are that good :)

I loved what you said about small business too. Buy local if you can!

Hmmm...I think I'd like them all! But if I was removing, I'd probably get rid of apple cinnamon (because it's a scent that is really common, so people may not be as drawn to it) and orange clove, mostly because my mother thinks cloves are too strong a lot of the time. Still, I love clove!

And, frankly, I'd want to smell/buy them all! I'm so bad at eliminating these things!

GREAT advice. Buying local is always the way to go first, and then, to small business owners.

As for your scents, hmm. Since you have the cranberry orange, maybe not the orange clove, or swap out last years for the new one.

Very inspiring, Becky! God has blessed the work of your hands! And, I agree that you friend is gifted with fliers!

As far a deletion... Maybe one of the spices since you have more than one. I know I would like them all. Certainly have enjoyed the ones I have!

Have a wonderful day!

They all sound great! That's a hard decison!
I would say remove one of the apple ones and one of the spices since there's a couple of those.

I'd say keep the Apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice. I love burning those scents, and everyone I know loves those too. For the new ones, I'd pick the mulberry and the cranberry orange, although the country apple sounds pretty good too.
Blessings,
Marcia

I would choose just one of the apple scents since there are two and also lose a spice, probably the potpourri spice, since there are three spices, and the potpourri spice would be my least favorite of the three.

Good luck with your decision!
