Let The Children Come....

Jesus said,
"Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these."
Matthew 19:14

The back story to this verse goes like this:

I can just imagine the disciples as they felt
so self important traveling with Jesus.
He had many people to see and  work to do and yet
people kept bringing children to see Him.

The disciples response was to try to keep
Jesus from being bothered by the young ones.

But Jesus reacted this way...
People were bringing little children to Jesus
to have him touch them,
but the disciples rebuked them.

When Jesus saw this,
he was indignant.
He said to them,
"Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs
to such as these.
 Mark 10: 13,14

We must never discount the ability of a child
to understand and receive the gift of salvation.

How true! Little ones understand so much more than most people give them credit for. They are constantly watching and listening to the people around them and they are eagerly trying to be like their older siblings, parents, and friends -- a very good reason that all of us older ones should be careful to show Jesus to them in the things that we say and do.

Hi Becky Sweetie...
I so love this post. Thank you so much for sharing this afternoon.

And Jesus said, "Let the children come unto me." I tell this verse to my grandchildren over and over. They know this verse by heart. I love it.

Hope you are well sweetie and that you are having a great weekend. I think of you often.

Many hugs and much, much love, Sherry

And let's remember that God has no grandchildren so we're all His little children from those still in the womb to those who've become stooped and aged. Thank you for a precious word this morning and I love that sweet little girl's face. So cute!

I always have loved that children are so innocent and their views and love for life is so perfect all the time.
