Blue Monday - So Beautiful

Linking up with Smiling Sally
who has been so very faithful to
Thanks, friend.
I miss being here.

I spend too much time on Etsy these days.
Peeking here and there.
Finding things to love.

Well, since I can't buy much of the things
I see and love I make them into Treasuries....
collections to visit and enjoy.

This is one I made with blue glass.

So delicate.
So many forms.
Each item is a link to a larger photo.
Look and try not to drool.

That blue and green plate is one
of my all time favorites...
but then I love the whale too
and think that Warren might need
that for his desk as he works
on the new show,
Jonah!

Enjoy.....

The Suit Had to Be Blue!

Jonathan is a huge Dr. Who fan.
Not just any Doctor.
Has to be David Tennant!

This photo borrowed from Google Photo Galleries.

So, when he knew he needed a
suit for his Senior Formal
he knew it had to be blue
with a red tie and red Converse!

Works for me...
Now I can link it up with Sally's
Blue Monday Blog Party.

Don't you just love this look?
He does!
And really that is all that matters.

Off to JC Penney we went.
I love shopping for Men's Suits there.
The salespeople can look at the guys and
set them up very quickly.
No, I am not being paid to say that.
Although that would be nice...

So blue suit, red tie and red converse in hand
Warren helped Jonathan get dressed for his
big night.

Then there was Mikey.
He wanted to wear a tux.
No sense in renting one because he
has another event this Friday...
so back to JC Penney we went.

Thankfully they were having a big
sale. Still didn't make it cheap,
but more economical than two rentals.

Now the boys have nice dressy clothes.
No excuses for weddings and church!

Mikey did not want me taking his picture while
he was getting dressed!
Can you tell?
Too funny, that boy.

But once they were ready we headed
to the back yard for some
photos.

A few interesting "moves".

Little sister had to get in a photo.
She is watching and learning
from their Senior Year....

Headed out with the wrist corsage.
Nearly forgot that as it was in
the fridge.

I love Jonathan's big smile.
He was very happy.

His date, Danielle, is a very sweet girl
that he has known for about nine years.
She is artsy and fun... just like him.

I don't know many other girls who would
have been so sweet about the red converse!

She, on the other hand was wishing she
could wear a pair too.

I didn't get to take any photos of Mikey and Emily...

Emily's mother sent me one though.

They are so cute!

We are so thankful that our children have
chosen their friends well.
Makes it easier when they are out
and about with them to know that they
are a very good group!

Have a great Monday.
Tomorrow I will share about
our Blog Meet in Maryland.
Hint: It was very nice....

1,000th Post!

This is officially crazy!
Over the past three years
I have typed 1,000 posts!!

Well, this definitely cries
out for a give away.
I'll have to put some
goodies together!

Watch for that later this week!

But for today, I wanted to link
up with Smiling Sally's Blue
Monday with this 72 ounce monster
custom candle order.

This was a challenge because the
container was way too tall for my
standard pre-tabbed wicks.

I hoped and prayed that I still had
some rolled wick. Back in the early
days of our candle making Beverly would
take a roll of wick and carefully prime
each and every bit of it with our soy
wax. That was a big job but she did it
well. I have since cut out that step
by purchasing ready to use wicks.

I was so relieved to find a small spool
of this wick remaining!

The next problem I ran into was that
the container was too wide for my usual
wick holders. Without something to hold
the wicks in place I would end up with
curvy, sloppy wicks...most likely lost
in the candle itself.

Again, I had just what I needed. Alternative
wick holders that I don't enjoy using but
which were much wider than my usual ones.

I placed the wicks and poured the candle.
Each and every one of those wicks popped
off the bottom!

Uggghhhh...

This doesn't happen often, thankfully,
but it is such a pain when it does.
Usually it just means that the hot
glue wasn't really ready when I used it.
It needs to be so very hot to really bond
the wick holder to the glass.

This meant that I had to pour the wax back out
and completely clean the container...
the glue won't stick to the bottom if there
is any residual soy.

I kept praying that I would not break this
lovely but rather fragile piece.
It was huge!

Finally, the wicks were set,
the wax was poured and a lovely
candle was the result.

I knew it was going to be the topic of
a Blue Monday Post.
Such a challenge, it was.

Winter is Beautiful, However...

I miss the flowers of Spring and Summer!

For Mary's Mosaic Monday
and Sally's Blue Monday...see the blue hydrangea?
Oh, how I miss that!

Amazing to see the many brilliant

Blues From the Corner Cupboard

Enjoy these blues and more! You can see more blue posts
when you visit Smiling Sally's Blog.

Warren's Grandma Charlotte treasured this
cupboard and many of the things in it.
It was not unusual to visit her
and be treated to stories of many
of the items kept inside.

I am honored to have been trusted
with this very lovely and very old
cupboard.

I have a cold and did not take
the time or energy to stage the
Pretties as I would have liked...
but I think they speak well for
themselves.

This interesting little cup and
saucer were carried from Europe by
my parents when they were over
there in 2005,
the year Daddy died.
I will treasure it always!

A little retro find from a yard
sale last year.

The teapot from a set that
has a lot of history.
Something that involves The World
Fair in Chicago and Mr. JC Penney.

Blues among the glass...

Come back Wednesday to see the Outdoor Wednesday Post
about our blog meet at Longwood Gardens. I have decided to make
you wait because I can't imagine a better Outside Wednesday this
week. We had a blast...even on a less than perfect "weather" day.

Blue Monday...From the Living Room

Sally from Smiling Sally's Blog hosts this weekly event.
Hope you'll stop by her place and see all of the blue
goodies at the many participating blogs.

On my list of favorite blue things from the
living room are the two pictures.

The blue
is light but definitely there in these family
oriented pictures.

I found the vase at a year end clearance at
the Lennox Outlet.

It is the Morningside Cottage Pattern.
Finding it at 75% off was wonderful!

The last item featured in this post was
a project that did not go exactly as
planned. The large blue stand was supposed
to get a glass top and become a side table
in our master bedroom. Somehow between the
time I brought it in the house and before
it turned into a bedside table it began
holding this plant.

I love it as a plant
stand. Maybe one day I will put the glass
top on it with a pretty doily and dress it
up a bit. But for now...I just enjoy it
as it is.

The pattern is so ME!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
Here is hoping for lots of blue
sky and sunshine in your part of the world!

Blue Monday Already!

I don't know what happened to
last week but it is done.

It is time for a bit more blue.

This time I went to our family
room and found a couple of favorite
blue items...

A classic figurine.
She makes me happy.

A Eugenia Price Book on our
built in bookshelves. Love
the look of nice book jackets
and pretty lettering.

Of course, a great story doesn't
hurt either!

On a different blue note is this bit of
a wall. It represents a fun date Warren
and I enjoyed last week. We met for dinner
at The Texas Roadhouse and then went on over
to a new Rita's Ice for a chance to just sit
and chat...over sweets.

I happen to think that the bright decor
in this new eatery is fun. The tile and
the blue walls set a cheerful background.
The red chairs really pop against it.

For more Blue Monday Posts head on
over to Smiling Sally's Blog and visit
the many links!
Go on!
Really...go!
Right after
you leave me a little note.

I love that,
you know...
