Please Pass The Caffeine!

As I said in my post on Friday my
brother is turning 40!
We headed up to his home during rush
hour Friday afternoon.
The traffic around Harrisburg was insane.

Warren and Jonathan had gone earlier in the
day while Mom, Georgia, Chelsea and I waited
for Mikey to get off work at three before we
left. This was the reason for the timing.

However, we finally arrived and the fun began.

My brother, Allan, looks great. He has been
intentionally losing weight and I am so
proud of his progress. More than fifty pounds
gone. Missing! Go Bro!

Friday night Mom gave him a photo album that was
kind of a "this is your life" type. You can see
that he enjoyed it.

On Saturday my Aunt and Uncle, two cousins and
two second cousins showed up to surprise Allan.

It was great to see them!
Uncle Chuck reads here often...as do PJ and Jenn.
Hello Ya'll!
It was great to see you!

Here you see the cousins in blue jeans...
a nod to Blue Monday. Hosted by Sally at The
Smiling Sally Blog.

From left to right: Me, PJ, Jenn and Allan.

The whole gang!

This is a situation where technology has been
a real help in getting back in touch. Jenn, PJ
and I have only recently begun to reconnect by
way of Facebook. We were thrilled to get to see
each other in person. Otherwise the memories I
have of PJ are of a young girl who would have
perpetually stayed a child in my mind instead of
the wife of a Navy Man serving in Iraq.

My cousin Jenn, hit a buck last week and ended up
as a patient in the very ER in which she works.

Thank goodness she is going to be fine.
Just some injuries from the airbag.

Home again on Saturday evening we decided to head
over to the Church's Fall Fest. This was debated the
whole way home. We were so tired. But, with intense
encouragement from the kids we went.
It was so much fun.
Since it was raining everyone was indoors
at Creekside Cottage and there was much laughter and
interesting conversation.

Sunday found us in church with a fellowship meal following
and then I came home for a long nap.
I am not feeling well.
Ever since that migraine...
Don't know if I am fighting something off or
what but I am dragging.
So that nap was unavoidable.

Maybe a bit of caffeine will be just what
is needed to get through this week.

Then there was a late baseball game.
We did not make it to the end...it wasn't
exactly going our way.
Yes, we are Phillies Fans
so we gave up as soon as the tie was
broken by the Yankees.

Sleep was quick to come.

Hope you are waking up refreshed and spunky.
Off to another week!

Many blessings on your day!

Hi, Becky! I'm so glad you had such a good time with your family. And how great that your brother has lost 50 pounds. That's dedication! I am currently on a diet, and for some reason, I'm not doing as well as I did a few years ago. Hmmmm.... I hope your cousin feels better soon.

And I also hope you feel better. Would you believe on Friday, I came down with a migraine? I haven't had one in a long, long time, and them BOOM! I slept fo 15 hours straight after my company left. Oh, yes, it started shortly before they left. I think I got it from the pressure front that hung over us all that day. It was brutal, and I'm still very weak, too.

Sending you big hugs for a Happy Blue Monday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Trust your nap was just what you needed!

After the fellowship meal we came home with the Barr's and Eldridge's, Mindy and later Mike. Bonfire again for marshmallows, lots of little boy swords crafted by Lindsay, a beautiful moon, pizza and many tired little bodies.

It was great but I am tired today!

What a lovely and sweet post, times with family and just generally having fun. I am sure that the birthday celebration meant the world to your brother. I suffer with migraines, too, so I totally empathize with you. Sometimes they are caffeine induced or then sometimes lack of sleep induced. I can never tell what will trigger one. The old thorn in the side for me. Take care and feel better!

Blessings,
Christi

It was amazing to get to see you again, I have better pics of the 4 of us, ones where we are actually smiling. I'll e-mail them to you.

I was blessed big time by this weekend with the family, even if I was out of communication with the "real world"

Love ya!

Hello Becky, your post about your brother's birthday and family gathering just makes me smile. When my brother turned 50 we all (five sisters and our hubbies) all drove for a whole day to arrive in time for his 50th party. He was totally shocked and it was the most wonderful time. Your family show the love that we share with each other too. Love the blue jean photo. I can't believe how much you fit in that day. Caffeine would not have worked for me!! HA! Thank you for sharing a wonderful day in your life.

Hugs, Jeanne
