Down From His Glory...

When Dad was still living we had a favorite song to sing together. We would sing it as we traveled to churches with a group we sang with years ago. The last time we sang it, however, was in our tiny church. Pastor Mike played and we sang. The song
was called "Down From His Glory". The words are wonderful, they go like this:

Oh, how I love Him
How I adore Him
My breath, my sunshine
My all in all
The great Creator
Became my Savior
And all God's fullness
Dwelleth in Him

Down from His Glory
Ever living story
My God my Savior came
And Jesus was His name
Born in a manger
To His own, a stranger
A Man of sorrows, fears and agony

Oh, how I love Him
How I adore Him
My breath, my sunshine
My all in all
The great Creator
Became my Savior
And all God's fullness
Dwelleth in Him

Without reluctance
Flesh and blood His substance
He took the form of man
Revealed the hidden plan
Oh, glorious myst'ry
Sacrifice of Calv'ry
And now I know Thou wert the great "I am"

Oh, how I love Him
How I adore Him
My breath, my sunshine
My all in all
The great Creator
Became my Savior
And all God's fullness
Dwelleth in Him

The lyrics were written by William E. Booth-Clibborn
The Music by Eduardo di Capua-1921

This violin version is awesome!
Read the words along with his playing to
get a major blessing on this Sunday!

Someday I hope to sing this with Daddy again but with my glorified
body and voice. To sing this with my whole heart to my Precious Savior
who gave His very life for little old me!

Have a thankful Sunday!

The Olympics Are Killing Me!

Oh...My...Goodness!

I need to sleep!

Every night the Olympics are just getting good when I really should be calling it a night and heading to bed. Instead I am up watching Michael Phelps just stretch those fingers to make it to the wall 1/100th of a second before his closest competitor. It was a crazy race! But he got the Gold again.

This nearly caused his mother to faint.
She collapsed onto her seat and looked very pale.

Then there was the night of the Men's gymnastics when one of the Chinese Gymnasts fell from the Still Rings. Oyyyy! I thought he was going to have broken bones. To see him fall and just land like a rag doll. Scary!

The Rings have never struck me as a very dangerous piece of apparatus...but maybe they are.

Usually it is the balance beam and the parallel bars that have me cringing.

What do you love or hate about the Olympics?

We enjoyed watching the Gold Medal Round of the Men's Archery yesterday. Our Jonathan is pretty good with the bow so it was fun to "watch him watch", if you know what I mean.

Much to do today.

The guys of the household are off to a weekend concert, called Purple Door. It is Christian Loud Rock Music. Warren didn't really want to go but it was an opportunity to do this with the boys before they are all grown and out of here. Jonathan told him he should think of it as an investment in their relationship...hmmmm...I think he overheard his mother say that! They will have a good time.

Mikey is much looking forward to the Skate Park that gets set up on Saturday during the concert. He will be having a blast!

It is my turn to bring the Breakfast for church tomorrow and we have a fellowship meal, so I see a lot of food preparation in my very near future. Time to figure out what I am making.

So, have a great Saturday.

Church Update

It would be strange for me to never blog
about our church since it is such a huge
part of our lives. I do try to keep my
thoughts and opinions about it to a minimum,
though, so as to not bore you.

People I run into in "real life" do not get
away so easily...poor things.

When we moved into our current building
June 1st, there were about twenty of us...
and that may be generous.

We had 40 chairs and they were spread far
apart to look like more. You remember the
chair sagas? Yes, there was more than one
occasion that someone had to run and meet
the truck, the last one being when they discovered
at the truck station that they had
one more of our boxes. I am so glad they found
it because we had not yet missed it and it held
all of the screws for putting the last 50 chairs together.

In the past couple of months God has
blessed us with families and individuals
who are genuinely seeking God's own heart.

To date, there are 48 who are committed to
this church family. Others are still making
decisions and new visitors come weekly.

What a blessing!

Just this week there was an article printed in
our local weekly free paper. Everyone receives
it by mail on Tuesdays. It was a great article.
There has been an instant response to it from the
community.

I also designed the children's page for our web site
this week. I am excited about keeping this fresh
for the young kiddos in the church. I want it to
be a place that they can look to prepare for Sunday.

This week I defined apologetics...since this will be the
first week of our class series on the subject.
Granted I gave them a simplified definition, but
it is a jump start so that they will not feel lost
in the conversation. Hopefully, if they prepare
for the class they will be interested in hearing
and speaking what they know.

I will put funny photos on this kid's page as well
as stories, games and puzzles. My Mom is going to
assist in this venture. You can see the page
here.

This is a picture of the new sign that Pastor Mike
designed. He and Warren had a good time installing
it. I would not have thought of the color combination
but it really looks great when the sun is setting and
there is a rosy glow on the sign.

I took this picture while the sign was being installed so all of the dirt was not yet back in its place.

The ladies have ongoing discussions about the urinal in the only bathroom available to us at this point. One of our ladies thinks it would make a great Italian fountain design and would like us to fill it with this...lol.

We have laughed a lot about this poor urinal.

It actually is an issue. Funny, isn't it? I grew up in a church that for the longest time had an outhouse. Now we are frustrated because the bathroom facilities aren't aesthetically perfect. I am guilty too.

A lot has been accomplished in the little over two months that we have been in the building. God is blessing us with fellow worshipers. It was such a blessing to have Miss Paula(Gathering of Friends) and her family visit with us on Sunday.

If you think of it, just keep us in prayer that we would not get our eyes off the main thing, the Word of God and our relationship with Him. It is so easy to get caught up in the "work".

Lord, keep us wanting more of YOU!

Your friend,

Photos by my daughter, Chelsea...

I remember wondering if Chelsea would ever take
a good picture...question answered.

She was hitting it right every time a couple of weeks ago.

I think she is great!
What do you think?

Hope your day is great!

Corn

That is what I did today...with my Mom.

We froze 53 bags.

Tired... that is what I am.

Now to get that Mikey to the dentist by 4pm.
Amazingly he did not have to wait long for a
new appointment.

See Ya!

To the Dentist...groan!

You would think that a former dental assistant would at least care enough about her teeth to not mind the twice a year trip to the dentist to maintain them.

Nope!

I hate it!
With a passion.

There is nothing fun about going somewhere to be tortured, told what you are doing wrong and have it highly suggested that you should sell off your children in favor of extreme dental work...crowns...

I do not enjoy it!

I remember those patients in our office long ago who were devastated by the cost of the root canals, that was all our office did. They would be finding out the balance on their credit cards to see if there was enough there to pay for the procedure. Then I would sit by their side for the next hour and a half and gently care for them as they endured having their mouth open, my suction device, the rubber dam and the dentist's hands all in their mouth. Poor, poor patients. It was all the same day after day so I did not think as much about it at the time...however...years have passed. I am the patient who has to shell out the money and put up with the achy jaw after long procedures. Not fun!

Yesterday there was a reminder call that Mikey was scheduled for his cleaning.
Oops! I told he and Jonathan they could do a last minute sleepover before school starts again ...these are horribly misnamed...no sleep! I informed him that I would be picking him up at 9:30 AM to take him to the D-e-n-t-i-s-t.

This did not go over well.

He said something about biting off the dentists fingers, one at a time.

I don't think he would really do this...but the assistant in me felt great fear at the very thought!

I made another phone call and offered myself instead.
You know, like a sacrificial lamb.
I did not want to do it.
I hate going to the dentist.
But, I love my son more.

A few weeks ago, I had gotten a reminder call about my appointment. Somehow I got myself out of that one.

Now I will go. In Mikey's place.

Poor Me.

Lucky Him.

Another Day of Riding Lessons

Mom and Chelsea are getting to be quite the riders.

It has been a while since I have tagged along for
a lesson but Chelsea said she wanted me to come
today.

It was fun.

The weather here is rather fall like, after nasty
thunderstorms yesterday that dropped hail the size
of quarters in places. Even this morning there was
a heavy morning shower before the air cleared and
the sun came out. It is beautiful now.

Here are some shots of Chelsea's lesson.
She has a very nice way with the horse and
seems to be quite good with having a nice
tight circle when she cuts around a barrel or
other object. It was very pretty to see her
make Sandi trot. I am pleased with Chelsea's
progress.

While Chelsea was taking her lesson Grandma Ruth was
being entertained by Miss Sarah.

I was so fascinated by the intensity on her face as she talked.

Love it!
Then she was off!

After about an hour of Chelsea riding it was Mom's turn.
I know that my Aunt and my Brother will enjoy these pictures.

It was immediately obvious how much more comfortable Mom has become with Sandi. She was right up there talking to her and patting her.

Mom is sitting straighter and definitely more in control now.

It was so nice to be there and see what a great teacher Lindsay is. She is patient with horse and student, alike.
Grandpa Bob and I were able to spend a few minutes chatting while his horse, Cheyenne, ate all of the grass in her area, which happened to be the length of a rope Grandpa Bob was holding. At one point I thought she might try to get at the grass under my feet.

It was nice to see Mrs. Rabe and Miss Paula briefly while the lesson was happening.
Tomorrow I hope to get to have one last fun outing with Mrs. Rabe and Miss Paula before she returns to her home in CA ...we will see.

I just have to mention that last evening I enjoyed watching some of the Olympics with Paula's daughter Kaitlin. It was especially interesting because Kaitlin is a swimmer so I learned more about the suits and the backstroke than I would have by just watching alone. Thanks Kaitlin!
It has been fun getting to know you this visit!

Well, this is a long post, but hopefully you have enjoyed the pictures.

Blessings on your day!
